The Café App Ltd ends work on previously developed application for Reform UK
20th September 2025, The Café App Ltd, a veteran-founded UK mobile app development company, today announced it is discontinuing further work on an application previously developed for Reform UK.
The Café App Ltd commenced work in August 2024 following discussions with representatives of Reform UK regarding an app concept.
An initial version was released in October 2024, with subsequent updates prepared over the following months.
Representatives of Reform UK have had access to and used the application for testing and evaluation since October 2024, as evidenced by delivery logs, TestFlight analytics and update correspondence.
Work completed to date (evidenced by internal delivery records):

Aug 2024 — Concept/design agreed in principle; initial work began.

Oct 2024 — First build delivered for testing via Apple TestFlight; access provided to authorised representatives.

Nov 2024 — MVP released on the Apple App Store for wider feedback.

2024–2025 — Iterative updates prepared and shared.

September 2025 — No formal contract concluded, The Café App Ltd ends work.
Despite ongoing dialogue, a formal contract was not concluded. With no agreement in place on commercial terms or next steps, The Café App Ltd has decided to cease further work and reallocate resources to other clients.
As a result of this outcome, The Café App Ltd has incurred unrecovered costs estimated at approximately £20,000 for time and expenses invested in the project.
The company also notes that subsequent steps related to the app proceeded via parties outside The Café App Ltd while no agreement had been finalised.
“We’re proud of the work our team delivered,” said James Armstrong, CTO at The Café App Ltd. “In the absence of a formal agreement, we believe the right step is to bring this engagement to a close and focus on projects with clear scope and timelines. Over the past year we prepared multiple updates while seeking to finalise commercial terms. As those terms were not agreed, and given the resource commitment involved, we have concluded the engagement.”
The Café App Ltd remains open to constructive discussions about the materials produced to date and wishes Reform UK well in its future technology initiatives. The company will not be undertaking further work for or any affiliation with Reform UK.
