The Café App was founded by James Armstrong with the goal of providing SMEs with affordable mobile apps, utilising local staff to ensure protection under both English and American law. Unfortunately, James has encountered numerous instances where companies that opted for non-UK-based providers experienced disappointing outcomes—proving the adage, "you get what you pay for."
Over the past 12 to 18 months, we at The Café App have conducted several market research surveys, focusing on organisations that struggle to maximise their digital potential. Disturbingly, the sector most affected appears to be charities. As our founder is a former Artillery member, he was particularly disheartened to see that many military-focused charities have not embraced the digital revolution, leading to missed opportunities in several critical areas:
Effectively engaging with those in need of their support.
Raising the necessary funds to carry out their vital work.
Achieving the right level of engagement with their supporters and followers.
This raises the question: why? While a lack of understanding might be one factor, we believe the primary issue is cost. Developing mobile software is expensive, and especially in these challenging times, many charities find it hard to justify the expenditure on a mobile application.

So, how can we help? As a company, we are committed to addressing these challenges. As a demonstration of this commitment, we have signed the Armed Forces Covenant, making a public pledge to prioritise Armed Forces organisations in all that we do. We are particularly focused on partnering with charities in this sector to ensure that our serving personnel, veterans, and their families receive the support they need. We are proud to announce that we have been accepted into the Armed Forces Covenant, and our next step is to reach out to these organisations to see how we can assist them.
We offer free initial research and, if a mobile app is deemed the solution, we will provide an initial design at no cost, this will help you visualise your organisations digital presence. Our business model is designed to deliver mobile apps to your organisations in a way that ensures you see tangible benefits in a short time frame.
If you work for or manage a charitable or non-profit organisation with a mission to support Armed Forces personnel, whether they are currently serving or veterans, or their families, we want to hear from you. Let’s discuss how we can help you enhance your presence in the digital world.
We have yet to find an organisation that wouldn’t benefit from a mobile app, though we have encountered many that have received poor advice and pursued ineffective strategies. Our approach is to provide honest and direct feedback, with a focus on building long-term relationships that help your organisation grow and reap the benefits that a well-designed, professionally built mobile app can bring.
